Today, we are going to introduce you to the analog obsession bundle.
Introduction of Analog Obsession:
Analog Obsession is a company that makes digital plugins for music producers, mixing engineers and mastering engineers. Like other popular companies such as Waves, Arturia, etc., it also focuses on emulating old studio gear. This company was founded by Rıdvan Küçük and is known for providing free plugins.
Elements of Analog Obsession Bundle
The Analog Obsession bundle is a mega bundle containing different plugin bundles. The names of these bundles are given below.
- Color Bundle
- Rare Bundle
- American Bundle

Now let’s discuss the first analog obsession bundle, which is the color bundle.
1. Color bundle :
As we told you above, Analog Obsession is also known for making free plugins. The color bundle is a free bundle of two plugins. These plugins emulate classic studio gear. The main purpose of this bundle is to add an analog taste to your digital mixes. The plugins included in this bundle can also be used for mastering. Two plugins are included in the color bundle of Analog Obsession, and they are described below.
1. PreBOX:
The first plugin included in the analog obsession bundle is the prebox. This amplifier plugin emulates 11 distinct preamp emulations. It can be used on guitars, vocals, etc. Most other plugins have a complex menu, but Prebox is easy to navigate. This plugin is not a preamp but can also be used for sound shaping. Its main features are given below.
Main features:
- The prebox consists of 11 selectable preamp models.
- This plugin has automatic gain control that helps maintain consistent levels and prevent unwanted distortion.
- You can affect your audio within the +/—24dB input gain range, which boosts weak signals.
- This plugin also provides high-pass and low-pass filters.
- This plugin offers 4x oversampling to obtain smoother sound and prevent aliasing, a digital artifact that can create unwanted harshness.
2. Distox:
Distox is a multimode distortion plugin inspired by old studio gear. It is favorable for adding a vintage character to the sound. From settle distortion to crunch, the Distox plugin makes all types of distortion possible. It offers two circuits with various amps and tube models to choose from. The distortion sounds it provides can be applied as high pass or low pass. As we told you above, this plugin consists of two circuits. One is the tube emulation, which provides smooth and clean output(saturation), and the second is the op-amp emulation. It is here to have a more crunchy type of saturation.
Main features:
- Distox vst by analog obsession provides a high-cut and low-cut filter to tame the high and low unwanted frequencies after the distortion is applied.
- It consists of two circuits.
- It is the emulation of the old studio gear.
- Each circuit in the detox allows the user to select various models to switch between the tube or op-amp realm.
- It also provides high-cut and low-cut filters.
2. Rare Bundle:
The Rare Bundle consists of two EQ plugins. In this section, we will provide some basic details about these plugins. So, our first plugin is the rare st. Let’s talk about it.
1. RARE vst:
The rare plugin in the analog obsession bundle emulates the famous Pultec EQ gear. This gear has been used in studios for decades and is popular for its distinct sound-shaping capabilities. We intend to write a blog in the future where we will explain everything about the Pultec EQ gear. But in this section, we are only to discuss the digital plugin.
Main features:
This plugin has options by which the user can cut and boost the high and low-end frequencies individually. On the other hand, the real Pultec EQ gear doesn’t have these options. The rare provides the Q bands, which can be narrowed or broadened within the plugin, but the actual Pultec EQ gear has fixed Q bands. A pre-EQ Gain option is also present in this vast that allows the user to add a touch of warmth to his sound. It also provides mid/side processing, and in this way, the user can affect the mid and side signals individually to create stereo wideness.
Applications and use cases :
- This plugin can be used on vocals to add analog warmth.
- It would also be helpful to use this plugin on bass guitars, kick, etc, to add thickness.
- This plugin can also add sparkle to the vocals and guitars, making them stand out, thanks to its high boost function.
- This is plugin is can also be used for mastering songs.
2. Rare SE :
This is a simplified version of the rare EQ offering a streamlined workflow. It avoids complex technical options as the rare eq has, like the pre-gain eq, etc. Basically, it is designed for the beginners.
3. American Bundle :
The American Bundle by the Analogue Obsession comprises the two plugins discussed below.
MERICA :
- It is an EQ plugin developed by the analog obsession.
- It emulates the vintage American EQ console, which is famous for its warmth and punch.
- This plugin can be used to shape vocals, enhance guitars and also be used on the mix.
- This plugin can also be used for mastering purposes.
- It is a 3-band equalizer.
- It has fixed high-pass and low-pass filters.
- It also consists of the oversampling mode for improved sound quality.
- It has been inspired by the mixing consoles of the 60s and 70s, such as those by API.
COMBOX VST by Analog Obsession:
- This plugin combines the pre-amp and the 3-band EQ.
- This plugin is highly favorable for use on bus channels, as it provides warmth and adds rich harmonics to the sound.
- It also can add presence to high frequencies to make them stand out in the mix.
- It can also be used to tame harshness.
- It also has the option of oversampling to improve the audio quality and for anti-aliasing.

- Its GUI is resizable.
- Compatible with most digital audio workstations – DAWs.
So, we have explained the most important bundle of the analog obsession. After this, we are going to explain some individual analog obsession plugins. In this section, we will explain the analog obsession with Lala. Let’s get started.
Analog Obsession Lala :
1. Introduction:
Analog Obsession Lala is a compressor st. It is an emulation of the Teletronix LA-2A optical compressor. The LA 2A compressor hardware was known for its transparent, smooth compression and for adding nice harmonics to the sound. This Lala vst by Analog Obsession has a user-friendly interface. It is designed to capture the sound of LA 2A.
2. Applications and use cases :
The application and use cases of the Lala plugin are listed below.
- As it is designed to capture the sound of la 2a so in this way, it is good for taming vocals, guitars, bass, and more.
- It adds settled warmth to the sound, so achieving an analog vibe in your mix is beneficial.
- The main features of this plugin are that it compresses the sound transparently and doesn’t affect the sound’s dynamics.
- It also offers side chain compression.
- This has been my favorite VST for my producers to use on the bus to add glue to the mix.
Personal Experience with Analog Obsession plugins:
In this section of the blog post, I will share my personal experience with the analog obsession vsts and their pros and cons.
1. Pros:
- These plugins are light to use. I mean, my operating system never gets hung when I am using these plugins. This is not the same with other developer companies’ plugins. When I open a lot of plugins in a project of other companies, then Analogue Obsession, most of the time, my operating system gets slower.
- Analog obsession: All plugins are user-friendly. I mean, they have a simple and clean interface, which is easy to navigate. On the other hand, plugins from other companies have a bit more complex interface, which results in confusion for the user.
- These plugins are very affordable to users of any type. Most producers think that they don’t have better sound quality because they are not using expensive brand plugins. But this is not true. I found that these plugins have top-notch quality.
- The main benefit of the analog obsession with all plugins is that they are emulations of old studio gear, and I love those actual gears.
2. Cons :
- Sometimes, I encounter bugs when updating these plugins. This can disturb my workflow, but it occurs very rarely.
- If I compare these plugins with paid plugins of the same type, I see that the Analogue Obsession plugin offers limited features.
