Monthly Electronic Music Production with KYGO – Audiostorrent

Music production is a creative skill that requires passion and hard work. I have also seen many self-taught producers who are very successful in this industry. But I think if someone is getting into music production, he should start with some guidance.

This would allow him to work smartly and efficiently instead of wandering around. Many tutors teach music production. One of them is KYGO, which is known for its tropical house music. So before explaining the course, you should know the history of the kygo.

He was born on 11 September 1991 in Singapore. At 22, he started posting remixes of different songs to SoundCloud and gained a viewership of a billion from his bedroom. At that time, he had just a computer and a simple MIDI keyboard. He is a famous music producer and recently published a course where he teaches his music-making process. The name of this masterclass is Monthly Electronic Music Production with Kygo.

This article’s purpose is to give you a breakdown of this course. At the end of this article, I will also share my honest review about it as I enrolled in it. So, without wasting any time, let’s get started.

Introduction:

This course is designed for 30 days. In this masterclass, he will produce three different songs, and you will see his entire process of producing music, mixing, and mastering. He is famous for his vocal chops, so there is also a dedicated section for that.

He also shares the tracks he produced in this course, and they are copyright-free, meaning you can upload them to any social media without a copyright problem. On the other hand, the stems he used in this course are also available for those who enrolled in it.

How the Course is Organized

The Kygo masterclass is organized step by step to teach students how to make festival-ready EDM from scratch. The features of the music masterclass course are given below.

In-depth Video Lessons: This course consists of 17 in-depth video lessons, each containing approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes of content

Step-by-Step Curriculum: Each lesson is designed to respond to the previous lecture, allowing students to follow Kygo’s production techniques and process.

Unlimited Access: Once enrolled in this course, you have lifetime access to it for free. If you have an internet problem, you can also download it to your drive.

Assignments and Peer Feedback: Students are also given assignments, which they complete and share with the tutor for constructive criticism. This creates a collaborative learning environment.

This course is designed for beginners and advanced users.

What does KYGO teach in his Course?

This is a frequently asked question: What will this course teach? The answer is given below.

1. Selecting and Deconstructing a Demo

First of all, Kygo teaches them how different elements are selected for different genres of music. For example, if you produce EDM, you should choose hard leads for the drop and soft pads for the breakdown section. If you make a tropical house, there should be soft pluck sounds for the drop section and other things.

2. Melody and Arrangement

In the next section, he teaches how to make catchy melodies. In this section, he also teaches us the important structure of the song.

3. Production Techniques:

In the next section, he teaches the most important Production Techniques, like how to make a lead, which properly sits in the song. How do you apply reverb on melodies and other mixing techniques like that?

4. Developing Personal Style:

This is one of the most important sections of the course. In this section, kygo advises that everyone should focus on developing his style while making music. This could be very valuable for getting noticed. He tells us that it is also a factor in his growth.

Honest Review:

I am a music producer who is always looking to learn new things. I am writing this review to help people interested in enrolling in this course.

This review is based on my opinion, and what worked for me may not work for you. Please note that this review is to help and inform people, and it promotes the Kygo course.

Here is my honest review in the form of pros and cons.

Pros:

The main good thing about this course is that Kygo produces all the songs from scratch in front of the camera. In this way, a learner can see the approach of professional producers towards different factors. On the other hand, most producers don’t show their approach.

On the other hand, he produces three different songs in this masterclass. He also mixes and masters each song in his masterclass. So, along with production, the mixing and mastering process is also taught. It could be a plus point.

This course allows us to create three different songs under the guidance of a professional producer. After enrolling in this course, we have access to a community of other students where they will share their projects. We can connect to other producers worldwide to share our thoughts.

The audio and videos of this course are high quality and provide a good learning experience.

Cons:

Now, let’s move on to the dark side of the picture. There are also some cons to this course. Let me discuss them one by one.

In this masterclass, Logic Pro has been used. As we all know, logic Pro is only used by limited producers for different purposes, and most producers are on Windows. Using a different DAW is not a problem, but the problem comes when a teacher uses the native plugins of Logic Pro, which are only Logic Pro exclusive.

At my suggestion, he should have used a third-party plugin, which is accessible to everyone. However, using the native plugin is not a big issue as this course is made for learning purposes.

The next problem is the depth. This course claims that it is made for beginners and advanced users. As I have been producing music for 15 years, so I found this masterclass very basic. It does not go into the depth of production.
