Introducing the Reveal Sound company :

Reveal Sound is a company that develops software, especially music production plugins. It became famous when it released the Reveal Sound Spire synth.

Vladimir Grigorov and Alexey Tomanov, two music producers, founded the company in 2009. Their passion for synth technology is the company’s leading cause of success. The company’s headquarters are situated in Tev, Russia.

Introducing the Reveal Sound Spire synth :

Reveal Sound launched Reveal Sound Spire, its first version released in 2013. This synth can cover all music genres, which is unusual for most others. It is also essential to know that spire VST is the only cause of Reveal Sound’s success.

Over the years, Reveal Sound Spire VST has received many improvements from its parent company based on users’ reviews and feedback. This plugin can be used for music genres like dance, house, techno, hip-hop, EDM, and lo-fi.

Technical Specifications of Spire VST :

Now, let’s move on to the technical specifications of the reveal sound spire VST.

1. Emulation Inspiration:

Most synths nowadays are inspired by old analog hardware or have modern synth engines. But Reveal Sound Spiral vst is different. Both analog and modern synths inspire this plugin. If we talk about its analog inspiration, it has been inspired by iconic instruments like the Roland JP-8000 and the Nord Lead series.

2. Oscillators:

The Spiral plugin uses four oscillators. These multimode and polyphonic oscillators include classic analog waveforms, wavetables, FM synthesis, and noise. Each oscillator has seven modes: Classic, Noise, FM, Hard FM, Saw PWM, AMSync, and Vowel.

3. Filters:

Filters are also critical in any synth. They tame harsh frequencies, remove mud from vocals or any other sound, and play a vital role in sound design. The Spire plugin Looptorrent offers different filters, such as high cut, low cut, and comb filters. It also provides modern filter options, like phasers.

4. Effects:

It has been a tradition that every synth VST comes with inbuilt effects. In the same way, the Spiral plugin also offers different types of effects like chorus, reverb, delay, distortion, and EQ. These effects are provided because some users tweak presets and some design sounds from scratch.

5. Type of synth:

Reveal Sound Spire vst is a Polyphonic Synthesizer. Here, we want to clear up the confusion. There are two types of synthesizers: the monophonic synthesizer and the polyphonic synthesizer.

Now, the question is, what is the difference between monophonic and polyphonic synthesizers? Let me give you the answer and clear out your confusion. As the name shows, poly means multiple or greater than one, while mono means single or one.

The difference between polyphonic and monophonic synthesizers is that the polyphonic synthesizer lets the user play more than one note at a time. So, with the help of this synthesizer, the user can build chords and complex melodies (a melody in which more than one note is played at a time).

On the other hand, the monophonic synthesizer is limited in this case. It only allows the user to play one note at a time.

Reveal Sound Spire Presets:

Now, let’s talk about the reveal sound spire sound banks. Firstly, let us tell you that the Spire vst is a modern synth that can design various sounds, but most producers prefer to skip the sound design process. It’s right.

Let’s consider whether a sound is already available in the synths presets. If you are wasting your most productive hour designing that sound, what is the benefit of your hard work? Nothing. So, it’s OK to use the preset banks. Here comes the reveal sound spire presets. When installing the reveal sound spire vst, you get over 1000 presets in its native library.

These presets are also categorized into different sounds. The reveal sound spire presets include sounds like leads, pads, bases, keys, chords, noises, textural sounds, soundscapes, etc. These presets can provide a solid foundation for your production. In addition to these presets, the reveal sound company runs a page where spire users share them.

Moreover, external sources provide reveal sound spire presets. These developers also offer previews of their sound banks.
The reveal Soundspire sound banks and the default preset library could be a good source of inspiration for creating something good. With their tweakable nature, these presets offer convenience and open a world of creative possibilities.

They can also shape your sound design skills if you are interested in sound design. You can tweak any preset to make it unique, fostering a sense of creativity and innovation.

Reveal Sound Spire vs Xfer Serum :

In this blog post, we will compare the Spire vst with the Xfer serum vst. This difference is written below.

1. Sound Engine :

The Reveal Sound Spiral and the Xfer Serum are polyphonic synths with different sound engines. Although we mentioned above that Spiral VST is a blend of modern and analog synths, its main focus is creating analog sound.

On the other hand, the Xfer Serum plugin is a wavetable-based synth. It is made to design modern sounds, like leads derived from vocal chops, etc. This VST allows users to create sounds that analog synths can’t produce. In short, Spire is a hybrid plugin, and Serum is only a wavetable synth.

2. User Interface :

As we mentioned in our previous articles, the interface of any plugin or software is its first impression to its user. If it is good, the user will be impressed, or vice versa. Spire vst provides a user-friendly interface. It is clean and easy to navigate.
The Serum VST also offers a user-friendly interface but to a limited extent. It provides a visual representation of different factors, like the wavetables; on the other hand, the Spiral VST doesn’t provide any visual representation. The user can drag and drop any patch into the Serum VST to quickly load different wavetables, but the Spiral VST does not have this property.

3. Oscillators:

The reveal sound spire looptorrent offers four multimode oscillators, but the Serum vst provides only two. Let us clear up any other doubts you may have about oscillators.

There are two types of oscillators: multimode oscillators and single-mode oscillators. So, what’s the difference between multimode and single-mode oscillators?

The oscillators are part of every synth. Their primary function is to generate sound in the form of waves. The multimode oscillators allow the user to shape the sound in several ways, like applying low-cut and high-cut filters to the sound with the help of that oscillator.

Let me give you an example of a multimode oscillator. Let’s consider a water pipe (multimode oscillator). This pipe controls the flow of water. If this pipe is a multimode, it will manage the water flow in different ways, like making the water flow in the form of mist, spray, drops, stream, etc.

On the other hand, the single-mode oscillator has limited abilities to design or manipulate sound, like the pipe, which can only make the water flow in drops, mist, or streams.

4. Presets :

When installing the plugin, the Spire VST offers 1000 analog presets. On the other hand, the Xfer serum has a small number of presets. It provides primarily modern presets but also analog ones.

5. Complexitivity :

The Serum is more complex than the spire vst. The spire vst is easy to understand. You can’t drag and drop the different waveforms directly into the plugin. It has an easy and basic routing system. On the other hand, the serum VST has a visual representation of every operation going on the plugin. Users can drag and drop different waveforms directly into the plugin. It also offers complex routing. So, we can say that Serum is more complicated than spire vst.

Reveal Sound Spire Synth Review :

Disclaimer

Before I dive into my personal experience, it’s important to disclose that this is not a sponsored review. I purchased Spire with my own funds and want to share my honest thoughts on the plugin. While I enjoyed using Spire, this review aims to be informative, not promotional. I’ll break down the features, discuss its strengths and weaknesses, and let you decide if it fits your needs. Keep in mind that everyone has different needs for a synth plugin. What worked for me might not be perfect for everyone.

Review

Spire VST is one of those VSTs that offers a wide range of sounds, fit for every genre. I have been using Spire VST for four years. I am an EDM and future bass producer, always in search of new and modern sounds.

I have also used other synths, but finding unique sounds in them is challenging. Sometimes, I had to design that sound myself. In the case of Spiral VST, every preset is arranged in proper categories, like leads, keys, chords, pads, etc.

They helped me to find that sound quickly and easily. The good thing about this plugin is that it provides all the basic to advanced sounds in its native library. I did not need to buy Revealed Sound Spire Sound Banks from external sources. On the other hand, the other VSTs offer limited presets, and ultimately, the user buys external sound banks for that VST.

Sometimes, I could not find my desired sound in the native library, so I also tried to design it. Fortunately I discovered that designing sounds in this vst is simpler and more accessible than other synth vsts. This credit goes to its simple and easy-to-navigate interface.

It is such a versatile vest that it can help a producer make a whole song without any other plugin. This plugin is slightly heavy on CPU performance. When I used to open more than 6 or 7 spire vests in a single project, my CPU started lagging, although it is a powerful PC. Developers should pay attention to this problem and fix it.
One of the most important things that makes me love Spire Looptorrent is its supportive and active community. Yes, its community is supportive and always active on various platforms. They constantly share their self-made presets for free and much more.

The developers of the spire vst are also known to be active in the community. They continuously add different updates and address their vst problems to make it stand out. Because of all these things, I am in favor of this vst.
Spire VST is ideal for producers like me who prefer to use high-quality presets rather than design their own sounds.

However, for those who are interested in learning sound design alongside music production, other plugins like Serum or Sylenth might be more suitable, as Spire’s sound design capabilities are more limited.
